The Blue Ridge Center for Chinese Medicine is a community health facility nestled in the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just 18 minutes from downtown Floyd, VA.

The Center in early springThe experienced practitioners at BRCCM offer a wide range of treatment options such as acupuncture, herbs, and massage, complemented by classes in tai chi, qi gong, and yoga, plus workshops pertaining to health education throughout the year.

The 5 acre campus is home to a beautiful timber frame facility with a Great Hall, 4 treatment rooms, a kitchen and apothecary. The campus is also the site of the BRCCM Herb Gardens and the Appalachian Herb Growers Consortium processing and distribution center.

The apothecarySince 2008, BRCCM has been growing many of our Chinese medicinal herbs for in-house use. At the clinic, an established garden provided the practitioners with an herb for nearly every medicinal-action category in Chinese medicine.  As we began comparing our recently harvested product with the same product we were getting from China, we realized a significant quality difference in the color, smell,
taste, texture, and presumably medicinal potency of the herbs.  We then realized that there was a demand for high-quality CMH, and that we are in a place to provide other practitioners with the product their patients deserve.

The BRCCM Herb Gardens now serve as both nursery stock and demonstration gardens for our Medicinal Herb Project. With many perennials already established, more slated to be planted this year, and three greenhouses up and running, most of the seeds and transplants will originate at BRCCM.  From here, they will be distributed to participating farmers, who will take care to grow them with our guidance to harvest. With high standards for quality, we go above and beyond the organic growing guidelines set by the USDA. Ultimately, we hope to utilize biodynamic practices in the BRCCM Gardens, as well as on participating farms.
