This tap-rooted perennial is native to China, super cold-hardy and drought tolerant. It loves warm, well-drained soil and produces yellow pea-like flowers in mid-summer.
We grow this plant for 4 years before it can be harvested for it’s long, deep taproot. It is a long fibrous root that we are currently having to pull into strips by hand in processing.
